Sally-Ann Johns

Sally-Ann lives in Edinburgh where she studies at Edinburgh College of Art and where she became inspired by the German lighting designer Ingo Maurer. She began experimenting with light and over time found herself using reflected light in her art, and discovered that by surrounding a drawing with gold and framing it in a gold lined box, the box captures and reflects light back toward the viewer inviting the viewer to consider another realm within the case. She says of her work, 'My drawings come from my imagination and are inspired by the magical realism of Frida Kahlo and Paula Rego and the anonymous works of Russian Orthodoxy. The result is a magical drawing captured in reflected light.' This is one of the most stunning collections we have presented and we recommend these works as prudent acquisitions to any existing collection.
