John Parker

John Parker says his paintings are 'Symbolic of Life; the course of life rarely runs smoothly without unexpected setbacks or discord. It is the determination to pursue life’s path that enables us to overcome these difficulties, thereby, creating something beautiful from the chaos.' This collection of his work shows the gesso surface being subjected to extreme stresses and tension, physically cracking and generating a texture that reflects life’s experiences and a sense of personal history. Using traditional materials and techniques, the artist applies the oil paint in multiple layers of transparent glazes. He uses a limited palette of 'earthy, organic' colours; the end result is a deep, rich, vibrant colour that appears to glow and radiates the warmth of the umbers, ochres and siennas, with which the paintings are created. These are sculptural works for the wall and a stunning addition to any environment.
