Enjoy boutique-hotel bliss at home

Ok, so there may be no place like home, but the difference between home and away is shrinking with the arrival of hotel chic. Yes, forget filling your house with hundreds of knickknacks picked up at flea markets, and instead try and recreate the sense of luxury that you get when walking into a really great hotel. “A good interior should be functional yet warm and welcoming,” says Sally O’Laughlin, the Creative Director of the Eclectic Hotel Company, and the woman behind the Great John Street Hotel in Manchester. “It’s the same principle when doing up your house as it is when doing up a hotel – comfort is the most important thing.”

House of Fraser are getting straight onto this trend with its brand new Casa Couture range (above), launching this Autumn. It’s a premium collection inspired by the chic finishing touches and understated glamour you find in hotels, and whilst it may not be brightly patterned statement pieces, it is the last word in luxury. I also love the Dante dressing chair from Newtons Furniture,  Porcupine cushions from House Couturier and Oscar floor lamp from Furleys Online for their similarly subtle and stylish appeal.
