ACHICA Living had the privilege of attending the launch for the new Home Style iPhone App from interior designer Kelly Hoppen at the very chic Soho Hotel – the perfect setting for an interior focused event. The evening kicked off with a guided tour of the App on the ever so trendy iPad and the opportunity to chat to Kelly Hoppen, interior designer and Dragon’s Den panellist, about how she spotted a gap for the App in the interiors app market. The new app offers users access to Kelly’s distinctive style at the touch of a button, revealing expert advice on interior design and exclusive tips for those wanting to recreate a specific room. ‘I want to show that creating a lovely, stylish space needn’t be daunting and that it is easy to add timeless elegance to your home,’ said Kelly.
After a few glasses of champagne and a spot of networking, guests including design guru Nicky Haslam and Dame Kelly Holmes (budding interior designer) were ushered into the Soho Hotel cinema for a Design Debate on ‘Why the online world of interiors is a long way behind that of fashion and music and how it can catch up’. James Hilton of M&C Saatchi mobile, Leon Bailey-Green of The Online Fashion Agency and Richard Cohen from Kyte, the online content platform, were the panel discussing interiors with Kelly.
With the help of Twitter the panel were able to answer an array of questions from around the world, tweeted by Kelly Hoppen followers. This gave the event an even more exciting twist, harnessing the power of social media. After a fascinating debate, Kelly concluded that what’s great about the iPhone App is that unlike a book, it can be instantly updated with current trends. It’s now available on the iTunes App Store.
I left inspired and keen to use the new app to update my pad. Oh and with an exquisite goody bag in hand.
