London Design Week 2011 key trends

It’s London Design Week 2011! Did you get a chance to browse the gorgeous new fabrics, furnishings and furniture at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour this week? It was definitely worth a visit, if not for the coffee and Lola’s Cupcakes alone. With at least 88 Design Centre Chelsea Harbour showrooms and King’s Road stores launching their new collections, some eye-catching new trends have emerged. Here’s a few key looks from the  Design Centre Chelsea Harbour…

BACK TO THE FUTURE

Bold motifs make a statement and tap into the growing confidence to have homes that ‘we love, are different and reflect who we are.’ Architectural, retro or nostalgic? The choice is yours and you should choose with confidence. Get the look with fabrics from Brunschwig & Fils, GP & J Baker and Hertex at Henry Bertrand and Jim Thompson at Fox Linton (above); Pin up fabric by Pierre Frey (below).

MOODY BLUES

If perky colours don’t float your design boat, then perhaps Moody Blues will take your fancy? Fill your moodboard with cerulean and cornflower, ink and aqua and chant ‘blue is the colour…interior design is our game…’.

Tissus D’Helene fabrics are leading the Moody Blues trend.

Holland & Sherry at Lelievre (above).

ALL BRIGHT NOW

Colour is key this season, making a grand entrance with paintbox primaries and bold colour blocking – ‘like a tempting bag of Haribo sweets, not new wave.’ Check out the juicy fabrics on the chairs by Lelievre and punchy colours from Anouska by Harlequin (all below)

‘Anouska’s provacative patterns and powerful colour palette work together in a glorious bohemian fushion, deliberately clashing and harmonising at the same time,’ says Claire Vallis, Design Director, Harlequin.
