Dutch industrial designer Marcel Wanders has come to be known as the 'bad boy of the design world' (there's space for two Monsieur Starck!). Famous for his work at conceptual design company Droog and for co-founding Moooi, this week he has added a new string to his bow. He's just launched new range called Garden of Eden, which contains seven pieces of silver-plated silverware, with gilt or partial-gilt finishing, in collaboration with Christofle at Harrods. I love the way the range is described on the press release: 'Handles and backs are decorated with a single engraving, like a ballerina’s leg garbed in embroidered hosiery.' In light of this, I think it's more fitting to refer to Marcel Wanders as the Black Swan of the design world. And, to balance out the delicate beauty of the Garden of Eden cutlery, I thought I'd include a few stunning bold and beautiful concepts by Marcel Wanders for Moooi.com ('which he made earlier') to leave you pondering on. Enjoy...
