Table talk – pick of the best new coffee tables

I’ve decided that I only need three things in order to experience true happiness. Of course, I’m not going to turn down a big win on the Euromillions, or the offer of a trolley dash through the first floor of Selfridges, but my triangle of joy revolves around the simplest of pleasures. A good sofa, in which to squash into, a good book, in which to squash into the sofa with, and a coffee table, on which a regular supply of warming  - and that doesn’t necessarily mean non-alcoholic - drinks can be placed.  But whilst we tend to spend hours shopping for sofas, bouncing our bottoms on banquette after banquette, and days poring through Amazon’s Most Recommended list, coffee tables usually seem to be overlooked. An afterthought, something to just bang your shins on and leave watermarks all over. Well not any more, as we present the pick of the latest season. All in natural wood – one of the biggest upcoming trends – they’re simple, subtle, and smoothly stylish.
