As a stylist I get to see a lot of houses and one of my favourite location houses for photoshoots belongs to Atlanta Bartlett and Dave Coote. Their amazing house in Kent actually gave me goose bumps when I walked around it for the first time. It has the perfect blend of white-washed floors, tongue and groove walls, tons and tons of natural light and as Atlanta is a stylist extraordinaire the most gorgeously styled rooms. The mantelpiece in her living room has been shot so many times that you’ve probably seen it before in magazines and not even realised it. It has so many curious items that you just can’t take your eyes off. They even have outbuildings - the kind you could live in!
A few years ago Atlanta and Dave set up their website selling some of the beautiful accessories
that you can find in their home including one-off vintage pieces. I was pleased to hear that they’ve also set up a shop called Pale & Interesting in the picturesque seaside town of Rye. They are inspired by their love of the function, beauty and the out-of-the-ordinary in individual items. You can wander around the shop and find the perfect trinket for your bathroom, bedroom or living room, not to mention a perfect gift or two. I wish I could show you everything but here are just a few pieces that are top of my wish list…
All the furniture in the shop is just the right amount of vintage and shabby chic and is so unique. I can imagine where I would put every piece I clocked eyes on. This grey cupboard (above) would work so well in a living room, kitchen or bedroom.
The proportions of this antique towel ladder make it so much more desirable than the modern day versions. I would pop this one in my kitchen. It’s far too gorgeous to be hidden away upstairs where no one could see it!
Who doesn’t love a cloche? They look great on a shelf or paired with a cake stand. I love to fill them with baubles at Christmas and cakes in the summer. There’s no end to their styling opportunities…
I have a thing for glass, especially cake stands, and I just love these wine glasses and champagne flutes. They remind me of holidays in France...
