This year here at ACHICA Living, we’re refusing to dig out the same tired old baubles, cover everything in red gold and green, and have the same identikit Christmas as everyone else. But that doesn’t mean we’re embracing the hot pink or black trees that interiors magazines have been pushing the last few years – they may look great on the page but don’t translate into festive fun at home. Instead we’re thinking of some other ways to decorate, the emphasis being on humour and wit, slightly surreal and with a whole lot of quirkiness. Random ornaments which will get people into the party spirit, hanging filaments from unusual places,or turning wreaths on their side and suspending them above from the ceiling. For if you can’t have fun at Christmas, when can you?
Heaven above – suspend disbelief when it comes to The White Company’s frosted leaf wreath (above)
Stag party – jazz up your wall hangings with a bit of festive cheer, like at Marks and Spencer (below)
Hang the expense – blow the budget with these pretty drop pendants from Iittala
Festive Fairy tale – Emma Molony’s gothic baubles are more Brothers Grimm than Disney
Deer oh deer – Add some animal magic with this LED Reindeer from Dobbies
