There has been some exciting Olympic goings on at ACHICA Living this week. Apart from the weekly world-record chocolate-muffin eating contest (no prizes for guessing that I hold first place…eherm), we hear that ACHICA has recently acquired an exclusive quantity of London 2012 Limited Edition Collector’s Artists Box Sets. So if you’re a fan of artists such as Tracey Emin, Rachel Whiteread and Howard Hodgkin or just want to get your hands on something that will no doubt become a future heirloom, then this is your chance.
ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET….
So what exactly is in this London 2012 Collector’s Art Box Set you may ask? Well…since 1912, each Olympic host city has commissioned art work to celebrate the games. Previous artists have included David Hockney, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein and for London 2012 the list of UK artists chosen was unveiled by the Olympic Committee at Tate Britain at the start of November 2011.
There are 12 fine art prints in the Collector’s Box and each has been created by the artist and printed on 30 x 30cm 250gsm archive paper. Artists include Martin Creed, Anthea Hamilton, Howard Hodgkin, Chris Ofili, Bridget Riley, Rachel Whiteread, Fiona Banner, Michael Craig-Martin, Tracey Emin, Gary Hume, Bob and Robert Smith and Sarah Morris.
The Collector’s Box, hinged and finished in black and gold, is individually numbered and also contains a numbered certificate of authenticity along with a booklet: ‘Behind The Art’, which gives some background and details on each piece of art work and the artist’s inspiration.
I’m loving Rachel Whiteread’s glass rings, which explore the emblem of the Olympic Games. Which one is your favourite?
The London 2012 Limited Edition Collector’s Artists Box Set promotion at ACHICA starts at 7am 10 February 2012
