Top 5 dazzling delights at Clerkenwell Design Week 2012

Clerkenwell Design Week kicked off this week and ACHICA Living has been out and about exploring the event in the gorgeous sunshine – it’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it. Clerkenwell Design Week is in its third year, and with new venue The Order of St John added to the Farmiloe Building and The House of Detention venues, it has never been better. Oh, and did we mention the sunshine? Here are our top five discoveries this week…

Arthur Analts’ shelves for small things (top) provide a home for the contents of your pockets when you get in, so you can find them when you come to leave again. No more frantically hunting for keys when you’re already running late. They were launched at CDW and we predict they’ll be a big hit.

Room 9’s ceramic light shades, also new for the show, are glazed on the inside to reflect the light, and left untreated on the outside, with even the mould imprints left visible. We loved the contrast of shiny and rustic.

We couldn’t put together a top 5 without including one of the most hotly tipped launches of the show. G&T is a collaboration between Thomas Turner and Bethan Gray, winner of Habitat Innovation Award and three Elle Decoration Design Awards and previous-Head of Furniture Design at Habitat.

Imogen Heath was on fine form, with several new launches for CDW and several existing fabrics in new colourways. And it was great to see her graduating from New Designers to CDW.

And finally Young and Norgate’s Prop stool was beautiful in its simplicity.
