Fancy a breakfast burrito? Then head down to the newest Wahaca restaurant in London’s Charlotte Street. Diners at the latest branch in Thomasina Miers’ mini-empire can expect the same delicious Mexican food but with the addition of a breakfast menu, a deli (tortaría-takeaway ) and the UK’s first Mezcal cocktail bar.
Throughout the day a Mexican ‘tortaría market shop’ offers a selection of dishes to take away and will give keen cooks the chance to pick up hard-to-find Mexican ingredients for recreating their favourite dishes at home. Named Wahacito, the tortaría is open from 8am serving a full breakfast menu until 11.30am.
Tommi has developed the new menu with some of her favourite breakfast dishes from Mexico which include savoury dishes like sweetcorn fritters (topped with avocado mash and roast chipotle salsa) and sweeter options like fresh gooey donuts (filled with yummy Mexican vanilla custard and fruit compote and chocolate).
Taking over the 1st floor will be the UK’s first Mezcal bar. Wahaca’s Mezcalería serves a range of the world’s best mezcals and cocktails which have been designed especially for the venue by Wahaca’s Head of the Bar, Jon Anders Fjeldsrud, whose signature serve is the Wahaca Mezcal Cup, a Pimms style long cocktail mixed with seasonal fruits bringing a smoky Mexican twist to this English classic.
