Bored of the way your bedroom looks? We’ve pulled together our top five latest looks to bring a little sparkle back this spring. See which one takes your fancy…
A coloured headboard is a brilliant place to start when looking for inspiration for your bedroom. Use it as a base for your scheme and pick similar and complementary shades for your bedding, curtains, rugs and other accessories. One or two strong colours teamed with subtler shades look great together, as seen in the image above featuring Kas bedding. Tie the look together with a ‘dishevelled’ array of cushions in different shapes, sizes, designs and fabrics to bring ‘harmony’ to your scheme.
But if you’re bored with your board, then have some fun and create your own individual backdrop for your bed. You don’t need to splash out on a new bed frame – you could ‘paint’ a headboard on the wall, hang a piece of art in its place or position an ornate screen behind the bed, as Monsoon has done here (pictured below).
Japanese style is as influential as ever in homewares this season. What do you make of a bed simply placed on a wooden platform? Yay or nay? The warm colours featured in the wood teamed with the calming Calvin Klein bed linen design definitely adds a sense of calm. Add some low-slung pendant lamps (although not too low – you don’t want to be banging your head) to give the room some extra warmth.
Monochrome is on the catwalks, already in the shop windows and soon enough will be in our bedrooms. The new trend sees black and white making a comeback. Did it ever go away? Team it with a bright punch of colour, such as red, as shown in this bedroom by Linen House. Any colour goes from bright blue to zingy yellow – it’s a sure fine way to add designer style.
As we look ahead to spring, neutral shades of green that add balance and calm to the bedroom are also a good choice. From bold emeralds to subtler pastel shades of mint, green is go. We love this mint green version by Linen House, which looks great mixed with earthy neutrals and whites. Think English country chic meets New York Hamptons glam.
