Whether it's powder, cobalt, ultramarine or indigo, blue has many calming qualities and adds serene style when used at home. Although it's often associated with feeling sad, when it comes to the world of interiors, nothing could be further from the truth. Dulux has even marked indigo as the colour of the year. To work this soothing look at home, team it with crisp and glossy white finishes for a contemporary, streamlined feel or mix it with earthier shades for a more classic feel. Here are a few beautiful blue items we've spotted at ACHICA...
Deck out your dining room table with some striking blue chairs by KARE Design (above). The Forum chair designs, pictured on the left, would work well alongside a wooden table with a clean white table runner and a fresh bunch of yellow daffodils. Meanwhile, the stylish rattan Bahia chair, pictured on the right, features stretched strands of polyethylene in a lovely light shade of blue and would look right at home in a conservatory, hall or used as as statement piece in an open-plan kitchen/living room.
A subtler way to work the blue shade at home is to use it in cushions, in the form of these Monet and Da Vinci prints from the Iconic Artist range at ACHICA. These cushions (pictured below) are designed using the age-old method of weaving on Jacquard looms, so they're as comfy as they are eye-catching.
While we don't plan to walk down the staircase dressed like we're in a period drama, we do think these Serax oil lamps are rather fun. Display them on occasional furniture in the living room or use them to add a little flicker of romantic light to your dining table.
Inject some colour into your kitchen with vibrant and practical accessories from the Colourful Cooking Gadgets range, pictured below. There's everything for the budding baker from measuring cups to rolling pins. Echo the shade in tea towels, stoneware and table crockery for a stylish touch.
And last but not least, this pretty glass bowl, pictured below, is perfect to store fruit in but works just as well empty as a piece of objet d'art. Part of the Harmony collection created by Swedish company Orrefors, it comes in a shade called Freedom Blue and is inspired by nature, taking the idea of bringing calm and tranquillity to your home one step further.
