For fabulous food and inspiring furnishings, dine at The Folly restaurant and bar

If you're looking for a beautiful new venue to enjoy some delicious food and drinks with friends or family, then head to The Folly in London. The experience is as charming as Ryan Gosling greeting you with a bunch of flowers - well, almost.

Featuring a flower shop, hanging chairs, designer lighting and botanical prints used in wallpaper and furnishings, The Folly is a relaxing restaurant and bar that sits right in the heart of London’s Square Mile, opposite Monument tube station. Walking inside and away from the city streets to be greeted by the refreshing décor and delicious food feels as magical as chanting a Yogi’s Om at the end of a busy day. Or at least we thought so.

The large space is diverse and designed to suit a range of moods. It is separated into zones with each area defined by its beautiful lighting and eclectic furniture. On one level sits the ‘garden lounge’ that features a deli, flower shop and cocktail bar where an expert mixologist can shake, rattle and roll you up a delicious aperitif such as a Spiced Pisco Sour. You can even take part in a mixology class by booking up online.

Move towards the dining area where you can order from the delicious tasting menu at breakfast, lunch or dinner and even sit at the pretty Chef's table (pictured top). Choose from dishes such as the light Pumpkin, Sage and Parmesan Risotto or the hearty Somerset Cottage Pie with slow cooked venison, bacon and swede mash. On Sundays, you can opt for the Whole Chicken Roast with Lemon and Thyme too. For something sweet, try the Salted Caramel and Roasted Plum knickerbocker glory for dessert.

There's a downstairs area too, with sociable dining booths, intimate lighting and a bar.

What's so lovely about The Folly is the attention to detail. We love the bold, decorative wallpaper, rustic hard flooring and mix-matched furniture that's brought together with a unifying colour palette of muted lilac, green and greige. The  fresh mint, rosemary, thyme and basil pots that sit on each table make a lovely touch too. No doubt you'll leave The Folly not only satisfyingly fed and watered, but possibly with a few design ideas to take away for your own home.
