Ultra desirable home decor

When you think about your dream home, is it all about where it is? Or the architecture? Or perhaps after a winter that’s dragged on and on and on, the climate? These are all very well, but what about the interiors? Take a moment and accompany us into some ultra-desirable rooms. After all, there are many reasons why you might not be able to move, but there’s plenty you can do inside...

We love this living room (above) because it feels as if you’d be right at home the moment you stepped through the door. The scheme pulls off the clever trick of being full of energy and interest but wonderfully relaxing because the shades are naturally inspired. You don’t need a space this grand to get the look, either. It’s a style that will easily translate to more regular proportions. Fabrics and wallpaper all from the Wabi Sabi collection, Scion.

The separate dining room may have gone the way of the corded telephone in the hallway, but there is something rather special about a dedicated entertaining space. Think stylish and sophisticated table, luxuriously upholstered chairs, and simple but chic table setting. We are a little distracted by the loveliness of the room below, but you don’t need a château to re-create the effect. Use a wallpaper that looks like exposed stone, or choose a traditional dining room red wall paint for an intimate space for evening get-togethers. Westbury table and eight chairs, Black Orchid Interiors.

There’s very little to beat the simple luxury of a bed made up with freshly laundered cotton bedlinen, so our next ultra-desirable interior is the easiest do-try-this-at-home. Get hotel chic with a high buttoned headboard and your bed dressed in pristine white. We love the simple restful grey tones of the scheme, too. The only drawback? It’s got to be the ironing, and only you know if that’s a price you’re willing to pay

If you’re all about the sleek and clutter-free, you’ll be with us on this one. A walk-in larder behind sliding doors means the kitchen itself shows a contemporary face with a wall of units in the most restrained of colours, and the cooking appliances the only things on show. Behind the sliding door, a walk-in larder where you can keep all those necessities that make a kitchen look untidy. Don’t call us neat freaks. Wave Curve kitchen, Metris.

For all your wet rooms and showers that would fit a family, don’t you just love a bathroom that’s, well, a bath room? A space with a beautiful freestanding bath centre stage is a room to treasure. If you’re fortunate enough to have such a steam-free, grown-up space, then dress it up. Go for a bath with an exterior painted in a fabulous colour, and show it off against a great backdrop. This wallpaper is Crooms Hill in Haze from Little Greene.
