Boutique Beauty: Countryside charm at Mallory Court Hotel

Situated right next to the small, bustling town of Royal Leamington Spa, Mallory Court is a handsome manor house nestled in the lush, green countryside and surrounded by perfectly manicured gardens. Part of the Relais & Chateaux collection, Mallory Court has an understated charm from the pebbled driveway right up to the classic country furnishings inside.

The interior decor 

The manor house comprises 31 bedrooms, which range from modern to classic, country chic and they’re a great source of interiors inspiration. We stayed in the Hanbury Suite, which was decked out with stunning soft furnishings and beautiful furniture including a traditional vanity dressing table made from walnut. The use of lavish silver, black and cream colourways work well to create a luxurious look – we love the use of dramatic striped silver and black wallpaper used behind the bed, which is contrasted by the smooth cream bed linen. Finishing touches such as silk black and cream bolster cushions on the bed and cooler grey patterned cushions on the daybed add balance to the look. A top interior design tip is to always add a little black to an interior scheme to add harmony to the look – this is used to perfection in the lining of the cream daybed.

The Hanbury suite, like many of the rooms, hosts beautiful views onto the immaculate gardens and rolling hills. The outdoor terrace is a glorious sun trap and the perfect spot for afternoon tea. It’s worth mentioning that the hotel’s grounds are made up of six gardens including the Old English rose garden, a pond garden with original stone paths and a wonderfully scented herb garden.

Head chef Simon Haigh works closely with the gardener to ensure his menu includes seasonal ingredients grown in the herb garden, including baby fennel, turnips, apples, strawberries and raspberries.  

Dinner at the beautiful oak panelled dining room is an appropriately formal affair, so after powdering your nose and coiffuring your curls, head downstairs to enjoy a seasonal menu filled with modern dishes including shellfish bisque, with ravioli and John Dory, curried lentils, cauliflower and lemon grass sauce. If you’ve still got a little room for dessert, we recommend the de-constructed Tiramisu – it will make you swoon.
