ACHICA About Town at Taste of London 2013

The Taste of London Food Festival 2013 came to town recently and it was the perfect opportunity for us to get together with a handful of food and lifestyle bloggers, to learn about some of the brands that are available on ACHICA…

Set in Regent’s Park, the event was truly a foodie wonderland with brands showing off their finest products and dishes across the food and drink sector, as well as a selection of entertainment thrown in for good measure.  With 40 of the city’s best restaurants and over 200 artisan producers showing off their goods, there was something for everyone. 

Our first stop on the tour was to the Tails stand where the bloggers met founder Nick Wall. Tails produce ready-made all natural cocktails with delicious spirits and liqueurs. 

Cocktails we shook up were Mai Tai, Expresso Martini, Elderflower Collins and Cosmopolitan, and it was certainly evident from sampling them why Tails has won a plethora of awards for its creations so far. 

Next was a stop off at The Olive Oil Company to sample the treats. Owner Danilo Manco explained the process of making his award-winning olive oil, and that the sugar content of the oils determines how much fermentation is needed to taste. We sampled the delights of balsamic vinegar too, poured onto a spoon and served like a healthy Mediterranean medicine!

 

The third and final stop was at the Herefordshire-based Chase Distillery stall. The company’s vodka, made at the family-owned distillery, has been voted the World’s Best Vodka by the San Francisco Spirits Competition so we were in for a treat indeed. A pure vodka with a naturally sweet and creamy taste, it was difficult to imagine that 250 potatoes go into making each bottle.
