6 highlights to look out for at Clerkenwell Design Week

As Clerkenwell Design Week approaches, we countdown the six highlights you need to make sure you include in your weekend itinerary. The number one design showcase, CDW welcomes exhibitors, showrooms and special installations across its weekend stretch. With so much to see, it's important you know what to look out for and the best Instagram opportunities - that's where we come in.

If you're looking for how you can apply the newest interior focus to your home, you need to make sure you take time to visit the exhibitors. Look out for LaCividina, a pioneering Italian design house specialising in luxury bespoke upholstery, for a lesson in sophistication and MOSSwall. Based in Milan, they create unique textured walls which solve your interior acoustic problems whilst looking appropriately spectacular. Depending on how they're integrated and the styling, they can either look gritty and cool or charming and ethereal - a must-see.

Next Generation Design Pavilion

The special installations are some of our favourites. The Next Generation Design Pavillion is seeing its second assembly this year, aimed at inspiring younger generations to get involved in fields of construction. The design is realised through a host of educational workshops where the children were asked to explore the ways in which design and architecture can encourage social interaction.

David Hughes

Art takes its distinguished spot at Clerkenwell Design Week, with a mix of different work mediums and styles. Look out for David Hughes' first exhibt at CDW, with his unique brand of LEGO art. With a fun appeal  his work pushes the boundaries of modern art, using the humble LEGO to create beautiful mosaic artwork and sculptures.

Bleeding Heart Yard

BLEED will be an interactive installation in the historical Bleeding Hearts Yard, designed by Lighting Design Studio, Popcorn, Red Deer and Hatton Garden BID. In the day time you can witness the natural light and wind create a mesmerising and ethereal display, while at night a lighting spectacle illuminates the cobbles below.

Edge Design Showroom

Head down to the Edge Design showroom to spend a magical afternoon where they'll be displaying original Banksy's and Roman Robroek's 'Abandoned Places' - a gallery of architectural photographs that capture the captivating beauty of desolate power plants and derelict European mansions.

Double Vision

Hakwood, designer of premium floor and wall tiles, sponsor this beautiful installation, 'Double Vision.' Recurrent 4 foot high facades line the walk through Clerkenwell Design Week to create a surprise moment of fun, that uplifts and funnels through the crowds - the ultimate Instagram moment.
