Fun activities for the Christmas season

If this is your favourite season and you’re all about the Christmas spirit then this is the list for you! We’ve thought of some fabulously festive activities for the run up to Christmas that you can enjoy with friends and family…

Christmas movie night

Movie-night

Not that you ever really need a reason to watch Elf/ Love Actually/ It’s A Wonderful Life for the 17th time, but now it the time to cosy up and hunker down in front of your favourite Christmas flick. Swap out popcorn for more seasonal snacks, grab a blanket, dim the lights and enjoy!

Enjoy a winter walk

Winter-walk

There’s never any guarantee of snow (we are definitely dreaming of a white Christmas!) but if you’re willing to brave the cold, then head to a local park, nature reserve or stately home for a wintry wander. Take hot chocolate in a flask or double check beforehand that the café is open, so you can thaw out afterwards with a hot drink.

Festive sweet treats

Cookies

Whether you’re feeling ambitious and make them from scratch or buy them ready made, icing gingerbread or Christmas cookies is always fun for all the family. Stock up on icing and sprinkles, crank up the festive tunes and enjoy!

Go TV free for one evening

Games

It’s time to turn off the box and dig out the board games or pack of cards from their hiding place. Spend an afternoon or an evening playing your favourite games with your friends or family, without the distraction of the TV in the background.

Get Christmas crafting

Craft

There are so many quick and easy Christmas crafts for everyone to enjoy making in December. If you’re looking for something super simple, opt for making snowflakes out of paper, or simple Christmas cards. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous then try your hand at homemade tree decorations or a wreath.

Go local

Christmas-market

Find out if there are any local Christmas markets or pop-up ice skating rinks nearby and plan a day of festive fun in your neighbourhood. There’s sure to be a Santa’s Grotto, carol service or fete happening in the run up to the big day.

Make mulled wine from scratch

Mulled-wine

Nothing says Christmas like a steaming glass of mulled wine. It’s the perfect Christmas party drink – or the perfect accompaniment to a cosy night in! We absolutely love this delicious recipe from Jamie Oliver.
