Captains made good use of notoriously cramped quarters in the ship’s stern section (deckhands were housed before the mast) and the captain’s desk was tailor made to offer maximum comfort and space in a minimal floor area. With drawers to house the crew’s papers, sealed sailing instructions, logbooks, charts, instruments and a pair of flintlock pistols, it needed a sturdy construction to withstand any violent ship’s movements. Brass corners to protect from damage when being moved around. Sturdily made of cherry and maple with solid brass hardware and kick-bar. Leather inset top. This beautiful piece will give any room a lovely vintage feel. Some assembly required. Approx. product dimensions: W170 x H78 x D75 cm.
