This charming sculpture features a hare gazing into the sky. Widespread over most of the UK, the charming, fast moving hare is normally a shy animal but changes its behaviour in spring when it can be seen in broad daylight chasing one another around meadows. The moon gazing hare is often associated with fertility and dates back to the ancient times and in China it was thought of as gazing up at what he sees as his ancient ancestor in the moon. Simple and elegant, this delightful piece is designed in the UK before being hand carved by skilled craftsman in Indonesia. Made from sustainable woods, the sculpture has a lovely authentic and highly individual character. Each carved animal is unique (and therefore may slightly vary).
