This piece captures the moment that Peter is rushed from his heavenly slumbers to open the pearly gates with his golden key. He wears a stripy nightshirt buttoned up with tiny ceramic buttons held on with gold coloured fine wire. He carries a little porcelain key which has been covered with a gold coloured metal leaf. His nightshirt is also embossed with two red hearts, front and back, and he has a little label on the back, carrying the maker's mark.

He is such a lovely little person - rushing at a jaunty angle with his wings outstretched behind him! The little key is removable. He is made from craft crank stoneware clay, decorated with slips and under glazes, with incised features and feathers.
