The original hand drawn storyboard drawing actually used in the making of an unknown Walt Disney Studio short in the 1950s. Whereas the frame by frame drawings were often considered the 'backbone' of the animation process, there is an enormous amount of work that goes on before that process. Each scene is drawn in small picture form, so the director can monitor the animation and greenlight each scene and stage. This is known as storyboarding, and this unique, one-off work is an original storyboard.
