The second side is a fine grater for grating harder cheeses, such as emmental or parmesan over pasta and risotto; for grating vegetables, such as carrots for soups and salads, and even grating chocolate. Use the third side to grate medium cheeses such as cheddar. No matter what you grate, the canister in the middle catches everything, making grating quick and easy. The canister also features a lid, so you can store ingredients inside.
