The Royal Audience
Joseph Alexander Goode is an acclaimed artist from Southwold in Suffolk, who now lives and works within the artistic buzz of East London. This collection first appeared in early 2012 under the title Cygnus Papilio in reference to the Latin for ‘butterfly swan’ - an imaginary carnation that represents the beauty found in nature combined with fantasy. The work is produced by a complex process of fusing hand-drawn and vintage imagery into ‘assemblage’ pieces. Some of the pieces contain over a thousand components painstakingly collected from vintage publications - many of which are well over 500 years old. These images are processed into a digital format, and then collated meticulously into the final artwork, each piece taking hundreds of hours to complete.
