ACHICA > Jessica Gadsby
Jessica finds maps fascinating. She chooses specific maps for their colour or their location and places them together to create a patchwork of place and form. City grids and rivers are layered on top of each other to add depth and movement to the composition before the butterflies are added to the final layer. The butterflies are symbolic of a journey, of duality, of life and death. They guide the viewer across the landscape of the picture allowing for greater complexity of interaction and imagination.
