ACHICA > Glyn Macey
Glyn Macey is a Cornish artist based in Penzance. He worked as a successful designer until 1998 when he retired from designing in order to devote his time solely to painting. He can often be found roaming the harbours, moorland and coast of his native West Cornwall, sketchbook in hand, recording the details of daily Cornish life and its history. Such sketches are used as the basis for the studio paintings we are exhibiting here. Using acrylic, mixed media and an array of mark-making techniques he endeavours to capture the underlying essence of the landscape, the essence that shapes that landscape and the people who live in it. The summer landscape of West Cornwall has a Continental feel that is also reflected in his work. His paintings can be seen at select galleries around the UK and from a collectable point of view, he is currently filming a ten part series with Caroline Quentin that will feature the artist in seven episodes.
